Several years ago the AHA changed the algorithm for CPR that now includes less breaths and continuous chest compressions. Chest compressions function to act like the heart in circulating blood to the brain. There is a reasonable amount on oxygen in the blood – sort of a reserve. So it is now recommended that 30 compressions are followed by 2 breathes and immediately followed by 30 compressions, and so forth. Of course, you should always contact 911 first. It is your goal to continue CPR until professional help can arrive on the scene.
So if you are a personal trainer, teacher, coach, daycare sitter, corporate member, or anyone else in the public who needs to learn basic life saving techniques such as CPR, AED Training and Choking for infants, children and adults, sign up with CPR St. Louis now.
