The American Heart Association offers a CPR class for the public. This course is not for healthcare providers. This AHA certified CPR class is for teachers, coaches, personal trainers, life guards, and everyone else who needs CPR certification with AED training.
This course covers training on infants, children and adults. You will be trained to handle situations involving basic CPR, AED use and choking intervention. After class you will receive a 2 year AHA Provider Card.

Several years ago the AHA changed the algorithm for CPR that now includes less breaths and continuous chest compressions. Chest compressions function to act like the heart in circulating blood to the brain. There is a reasonable amount on oxygen in the blood – sort of a reserve. So it is now recommended that 30 compressions are followed by 2 breathes and immediately followed by 30 compressions, and so forth. Of course, you should always contact 911 first. It is your goal to continue CPR until professional help can arrive on the scene.
