There are many types of brain tumors. Some are cancerous while others are benign. Some have treatments and cures. Others do not. A Glioblastoma Multiforme is an extremely serious type of brain tumor.

Glioblastoma Multiforme is a fast-growing, cancerous brain tumor. It is a type of astrocytoma, which is a glioma that has star-shaped cells. It is the most cancerous of astrocytomas. They can be found in someone at any age, but are most often found in someone 50 or older.

There are many symptoms of Glioblastoma Multiforme. Brain tumors can be very destructive to brain cells, and the tumor and inflammation can affect many parts of the brain. The most common symptoms are headaches, seizures, changes in mental functions, and changes in senses including hearing, speaking, and vision.

There is not a known cause, cure, or any way to prevent Glioblastoma Multiformes, but there is treatment. Chemotherapy and radiation are forms of therapy to treat it. They are used to relieve symptoms that can cause pain, to make health better, and extend life.

Glioblastoma Multiformes are the highest-grade cancerous brain tumor. Most people who develop this type of brain tumor will not survive. The hope is that current research will result in new treatment measures and cures.
