Pediatric Advanced Life Support, also known as PALS, is intended to teach healthcare providers how to handle emergency situations with infants and children. The American Heart Association PALS course material prepares healthcare workers to prevent death and injury. It also provides instruction of research based algorithms that are used to treat infants and children suffering from respiratory failure, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest.
